BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

Hundreds of runners hit the streets of Bethlehem this morning to honor a Freemansburg police officer who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

This is the second year the Robert Lasso Memorial 5K Run was held.

Officer Lasso was killed in the line of duty in 2011.

Close to 115 runners and walkers turned out to remember his service and raise funds for his wife and two children.

"I think it's fantastic that the community came together again in his honor and his memory to show their support for his family and law enforcement in general," said organizer and Bethlehem Police Officer Michael Ogrodnick.

Organizers hope to make this an annual event.
