CHESTNUTHILL TWP., Pa. -

A drug deal gone bad was apparently the downfall of two Monroe County men, police said.

Ronald Angle Jr. and Blake Stires agreed to meet at the Chestnuthill Diner at Route 209 and old Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township for a drug transaction, police said.

At the meeting, which took place around 10 p.m. Wednesday, police said Stires, 26, of Kunkletown, took Angle's money and took off in a car occupied by four people.

Angle, 25, of Mount Bethel Twp., Northampton Co., fired two shots and chased the vehicle, police said, and both vehicles pulled into the parking lot of the state police barracks in Lehighton.

Angle told police he was robbed at knife-point by unknown people, but police determined that Stires and Angle were in contact with each other throughout the day, and Angle made a false report about the robbery.

Both men were arrested.

Angle was charged with five counts of recklessly endangering another person, along with single counts of criminal attempt to possess a controlled substance and false reports to law enforcement. Stires was charged with theft.

Both men were committed to the Monroe County Prison.
