Reward offered in copper wire thefts at Alpine Mountain

The owner of a ski resort in the Poconos is offering up $10,000 in hopes it'll lead to the capture of copper thieves.
"They cut the wires from here and then ripped them out," said Kevin Fabiano, Sr. as he walked round his Monroe County ski resort, Alpine Mountain in Henryville.
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after Fabiano says criminals stole copper wiring worth about $35,000.
It's a job, he says, that was done in five separate incidents over a two week span in June.
"They supposedly hooked it up to a truck and pulled it out. That set of wires is 1,570 feet, weighing a couple of thousand pounds."
Fabiano says the criminals took the copper wiring powering the ski lift and snow blowers.
He says this crime isn't just brazen, it's also dangerous. He says one wrong move and the criminals could have been electrocuted.
Fabiano and his son purchased Alpine Mountain in April and are in the process of renovating the ski lodge and building an ice skating rink.
He says he whoever did this knew exactly where to go and what to take.
"Somebody who has intimate, intimate knowledge of the resort. This is not someone who got very lucky," said Fabiano.
Fabiano says there's significant damage to the snow-makers and he says they even hot-wired a back-hoe and used it in the heist.
He's since hired guards to watch the property overnight.
Fabiano is now offering a $10,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
"We're hoping that the public can help us track down the perpetrators of this so it doesn't put a mar on the community. Either it's a single act against Alpine Mountain or this is a much larger criminal enterprise that's attacking Monroe County," said Fabiano.
Anyone with information is asked to call State Police at Swiftwater at (570) 839-7701.
