Reserve Center named for Ashly Moyer

The Lehigh Valley will always remember Sgt. Ashly Lynn Moyer.
The 22-year-old Emmaus woman was killed while serving in Iraq.
A new Army Reserve Center was named in her honor Monday.
Moyer is remembered by many as having a life well lived and well loved.
In 2007, Sgt. Moyer died while serving with the 630th Military Police Company in Iraq. Her vehicle was hit by an enemy improvised explosive device.
"In some ways we talk about army reservists being twice the citizen. Sgt. Moyer was in many ways twice the soldier she was an Army reserve soldier then and active component soldier," said Maj. Gen. William Razz Waff, Commanding General with the 99th Regional Support Command.
For that reason, the new Army Reserve Center in Forks Township, Northampton County bears Moyer's name.
Fellow soldiers remember Moyer as someone who was always smiling, worked hard and had one of the best kept vehicles in the fleet.
"'She asked me can I pimp out my ride?' A little later in the deployment, I noticed fuzzy dice, fuzzy dice were hanging from her weapons rack," said 1st Sgt. Bruce Sweeney.
Moyer graduated from Emmaus High School in 2003 and went straight into the Army.
Her family says Moyer loved serving her country.
Her little brother remembers the day she visited him at his elementary school to share her passion for service with his classmates.
"They say you really don't know what you've got until it's gone. And man is that true, you really don't. So if you have loved ones hold them tight," said Kyle Moyer.
The Sgt. Ashly Lynn Moyer Army Reserve Center will replace the Wilson Kramer facility in Bethlehem.
Officials say the new center has state of the art training equipment and is highly energy efficient.
But to the Moyer family, the smile that greets you when you walk in the lobby is the most important feature.
