ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

A group of demonstrators is urging a local lawmaker to support a moratorium on fracking.

Protesters rallied outside Pa. Sen. Pat Browne's office in Allentown on Thursday as part of a statewide movement, called Independence from Fracking.

Fracking uses high pressure water to drill for natural gas below the earth's surface.

Opponents said the process can release harmful chemicals into the water supply.
