The U.S. Postal Service is delaying a plan to close post offices and mail processing centers around the country, including one in Reading.
Officials announced Tuesday that they will impose a moratorium on closures and consolidations until next May.
That word comes just one week after the agency said it would move forward with cutbacks.
Some 250 mail processing centers are on the chopping block, including the one at the Gus Yatron Post Office in Reading.
Officials said the move will give Congress more time to work on a plan to save the Postal Service.
