The homicide of a 21-year-old father, killed while in the city of Reading for his son's first birthday, has police turning to the public for help.
Steven Crespo was shot and killed in the 300 block of W. Douglass Street in Reading, in October of 2012, investigators said.
"He was walking to his girlfriend's house, which was across the street, and at that time, he was gunned down," said Sgt. John Solecki, Reading Police Dept.
But thanks to a search warrant signed by a judge, Monday, police say they will be turning their attention to the telephone records of a woman who was with Crespo just before he was killed.
69 News is not revealing the woman's name because she has not been charged in connection with this crime.
Court documents indicate, however, that this woman told police she did not make or receive any cell phone calls while she was with the victim.
Investigators say that is not the case. In fact, they report five calls were made from the woman's cell phone, back to back, just moments before the victim was shot and killed.
"The phone records are going to turn out to be very important. The victim's phone records, as well as people that were around him [the victim] at the time of the homicide," Solecki said.
Police still need the public's help in cracking this case.
