Chalfont cop lied about shooting

CHALFONT, Pa. -

It's a role reversal for a Bucks County police officer who now finds himself facing charges.

Jon Cousin, 32, has been charged with numerous misdemeanor charges including recklessly endangering another person.

Cousin reported being shot Monday around 3:15 a.m. in the parking lot area of the Lenape Valley Swim Club, in the 100 block of Westview Avenue, officials said.

But it turns out, the situation he reported never happened, police said

Originally, he told police he stopped a suspicious vehicle and when he approached the car, an occupant of the car got out and fired at him, hitting him in the chest police said.

Tuesday night, police released the findings of their investigation.  Cousin fired a shot into his bullet proof vest from a gun at his home, police said.  He later put that vest on, drove to the swim club and fired three shots into the air.  He also created the story about the alleged car he pulled over.

He now faces multiple charges including recklessly endangering another person, for firing the shots into the air at the swim club.

He's been on the force for three years but now faces spending up to the next 22 years of his life behind bars.
