PALMER TWP., Pa. -

A man who hid baby formula in a blue beer tub inside his shopping cart earlier this month has been charged with shoplifting, officials said.

Caesar Colon left the Weis Market at 3011 William Penn Highway, Palmer Twp., Northampton Co., at about 3 p.m. Nov. 15 without paying for 12 packages of Gerber Gentle and eight packages of Similac Advance  worth $287.80, officials said.

Colon and a woman transferred the baby formula from the blue beer tub into a large black bag before leaving the store, officials said.

Colon and the woman were identified through store surveillance video and police photos, officials said.

Colon,  62, of 895 Walnut St., Catasauqua, was arraigned Friday on charges of retail theft and conspiracy and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $5,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Dec. 3.
