Police: Bullet fired during target practice hits school

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -

Investigators are talking with four men after a bullet they fired during target practice hit a school.

Police were called for a loud noise that sounded like a rock being thrown at a window or a bullet hitting near a classroom window at the Resica Elementary School on Gravel Ridge Road in East Stroudsburg just before 12:30pm Thursday, State Police at Swiftwater said.

Police say they found a bullet that had traveled through the first pane of a double pane window and fell onto the outside sill.

The school was placed on lock down while police investigated.

Police were able to find four men who were target practicing with handguns and rifles near the school, police said.

Police say the school was not targeted with a criminal purpose.
