Former Royals' goalie Philipp Grubauer made his NHL debut on Wednesday night with the Washington Capitals.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -

The Flyers got all over the Capitals Wednesday night in a 4-1 win at the Wells Fargo Center.

While things didn't go well for Washington overall, one thing that did was goaltender Philipp Grubauer.

The former Reading Royals' goaltender made his NHL debut in relief of Braden Holtby. He did something that Holtby could not.

Stop shots.

In fact, Grubauer went a perfect 14 of 14 on save chances in just over 25 minutes of game time.

Grubauer is the 23rd player in Royals history to advance from Reading to the NHL. He's the seventh Royal to play in Reading and the NHL in the same season. Lastly, he's the second Royals' player to make his NHL debut this season, joining Antoine Roussel.

The second year pro started the season with the Royals and racked up a record of 19-5-1-0.

Grubauer was assigned back to Hershey on Thursday.
