Penn State pride high for season opener

From setting up the traditional pre-game tents to showcasing school spirit, Penn State students are ready for their first football game of the season.
"This is Nittanyville, where students come to get the best seat in the stadium for Saturday's game," student Jake Shur told us from inside his tent.
"I am painting the new player banners that will be displayed along the railing," said Karisa Maxwell while painting.
Penn State's Beaver stadium is set for an opening season game unlike any other.
"I think, if anything, this will be more intense. I think this will be the greatest atmosphere yet, because we've been through so much," Maxwell said.
That would be an understatement.
The school is coming off an unparalleled sex abuse scandal involving former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.
Legendary Head Football Coach Joe Patern, who was unceremoniously fired last year, then later died, is now left with a tarnished legacy.
The current team had players transfer and is now banned from bowl games for four years but students outside Beaver Stadium are still showing solidarity.
"Players just want to let it out all out the field. Fans just want to scream for something positive," said Graduate student Chris Grassi.
The school just won a national contest for showing school pride.
"Goes back to last year because I think everyone in the Penn State community knew what we were going through. Showed support even more," Shur said.
The school is moving forward but not forgetting its past. Blue Ribbon decals honoring victims of child sex abuse will be on the backs of helmets and for the first time names will be on the backs of jerseys.
Penn State's new coach Bill O'Brian said it's to let America know who stayed loyal to Penn State.
A sentiment that could include those outside the stadium too.
