Pedestrian hit by car in Wyomissing dies at hospital

Hearts are heavy for a Spring Township man who died after being hit by a car as he was walking to the post office.

WYOMISSING, Pa. -

A Spring Township man was struck by a car and killed as he crossed a busy street early Thursday morning.

The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Penn Avenue in Wyomissing.

The victim, Randolph Coyle, was walking across the street to the post office when he was struck, police said.

Coyle, 61, of Spring Township, was rushed to nearby Reading Hospital, but he died a short time later, said the coroner, who determined his death to be an accident.

Police closed the 1000 block of Penn Avenue, between Bern Road and Trent Avenue, for several hours while they conducted their on-scene investigation.
