SHILLINGTON, Pa. -

The report of a suspicious man with a gun prompted officials in the Governor Mifflin School District to put some of its schools on lockdown Friday.

The parent reported seeing the man with a gun in his waistband walking across the parking lot of the Governor Mifflin Intermediate School shortly after 1 p.m., police said.

Students at the intermediate school and Cumru and Mifflin Park elementary schools were kept inside while police searched the school grounds, officials said. Officers were unable to locate the man.

As a precaution, students were kept inside the schools until dismissal, which was done with a police presence.
