He's one of the most recognizable mascots in all of sports.

And this summer, you can get up close and personal with the Phillie Phanatic, or at least his likeness, in more than one spot.

You can catch his antics at Citizens Bank Park.

And he often hangs out with Ferrous at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown and Screwball at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading.

But this summer, the Phillie Phanatic is taking on the streets of Philadelphia.

They are all over town, said Jeff Liebreich. That's Phanatic Around Town.

Twenty Phanatic statues are scattered throughout the city.

Each one was painted by a local artist.

They put out a search for artists and said if you could paint a Phanatic, how would you paint him, said Liebreich. And they got so many replies.

One was from artist Gary Jameson, whose version of "Starry Night" replaces Vincent Van Gogh's nighttime village view with images of baseball greats.

You'll find one Phanatic in Rittenhouse Square, at the corner of 18th and Walnut streets.

It's a a colorful neighborhood, very vibrant neighborhood and it has all of these great stars, which are baseball stars swirled in, said Liebreich.

Most of the 20 statues are outdoors, but if you're looking for some air conditioning, you'll love one statue.

You'll find him in the middle of the Food Court in the Comcast Center off JFK Boulevard.

Some kids just want to come up and touch it to see what it feels like, if he's going to be all furry like the real Phanatic, said Liebreich.

Instead of fur, he's made of fiberglass, and looks like the phantom Phanatic has laid off the Tastykakes..

The real one is a rather big guy, at 6-1/2 feet tall and 300 pounds.

His waistline?

Oh, about 90 inches.

But the replicas are slimmed down..

The Phanatic is on a diet.

His summer figure is at just 100 pounds.

And he lost a bit of a his height.

The statue stands at five feet. Six feet if you count the base shaped like home plate.

We knew it would be popular, said Liebreich, because who doesn't like the Phanatic, right?
