UPPER MILFORD TWP., Pa. -

A former Lehigh County kennel owner who was convicted of animal cruelty charges has violated his probation in a big way, officials said Tuesday.

Investigators have issued a probation violation warrant for Derbe Eckhart.

The county's probation department responded to Eckhart's property Monday. Officials said they found dozens of animals living in poor conditions, including 22 horses, three monkeys, 138 birds and more cats and kittens than they could count.

Eckhart is the forme owner of the Almost Heaven Kennel in Upper Milford Township, which was raided in 2008.

He spent several months in jail, and as part of his probation, he's not allowed to own or be in the possession of any animals.
