A nursing home in Lehigh County said it's making some changes in the wake of a heat wave in July.

A nursing home in Lehigh County said it's making some changes in the wake of a heat wave in July.

Cedarbrook Nursing Home in Allentown took part in a county initiative called "Demand Response" last month.

As part of the program, businesses power down and run on their generators to help ease the tension on the power grid during extreme weather, and they're compensated for doing so.

Some Cedarbrook residents and their families, however, complained that the temperatures were not monitored well enough inside the nursing home and things got hot.

Officials with Cedarbrook said the residents were not in jeopardy, but even so, the county has decided that, until a better system is in place, the home will not be taken off the grid again.
