As Nelson Mandela continues to lie in state in South Africa, his life is being celebrated a little closer to home.
Students at Northampton Community College held a memorial service for the anti- apartheid hero Thursday.
The service featured a video presentation of Mandela's life along with speeches from students and professors.
A student who came to NCC from South Africa said, even though Mandela is gone, his legacy will live on.
"He showed that you could love somebody without you knowing them. He showed that you can fight for the future of a generation that is still coming, and he showed true leadership potentials and everything that a leader is supposed to be," said Katlane Seema, student.
The school's librarians also created a book display and timeline of Mandela's life. It will be on display at the college.
