Murder suspect fights extradition

Authorities are in a fight to get Jose Reyes Diaz, 24, extradited to Berks County.
"We look forward to prosecuting this case," said John Adams, Berks County District Attorney.
Police said Reyes Diaz is accused of shooting and killing Reading I-Lead student, Ramon Rosario Evangelista, 21.
The homicide happened in November at the A-Town Café, located at N. 10th and Elm streets in Reading.
Investigators said two other people were also shot, but are recovering.
Officials said the Reading Police worked with the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force in order to search for Reyes Diaz. Detectives said confidential information led them to an apartment in the 200 block of Messer Street in Providence, Rhode Island, where Reyes Diaz was arrested.
Police said they conducted surveillance for about a week.
"He was seen leaving a rooming house. As a result of that, they made efforts to further identify that that was Jose Reyes Diaz," said Adams.
Police report that when they arrested Reyes Diaz, Tuesday, they found another surprise.
"A 9 millimeter Luger handgun was recovered," said Adams.
Detectives are currently trying to determine if that handgun was the same one used to kill Rosario Evangelista.
Meanwhile, Berks authorities said Reyes Diaz is fighting extradition, and the Berks County District Attorney John Adams indicated he is fighting back by calling on authority from the governor's office.
"We have already started the process of obtaining a governor's warrant, which would command and demand the State of Rhode Island to return Jose Reyes Diaz to the state of Pennsylvania."
Adams said this investigation is not over, and anyone with information is urged to call police.
