Northwestern's Cole Miller takes a lead into the final 18 holes of the state golf tournament. Miller shot a 69 in the opening round Monday.

The PIAA Golf Tournament is a two day event, as the state's top golfers play in York, round one this morning and round two is tomorrow morning. We had one area golfer bring home silver last year, Central Catholic's Franca Hurtado. She's back this year, but trailing the leaders by a substantial margin after day one. One area golfer isn't trailing. Northwestern's Cole Miller is leading the Double-A tournament after day one, shooting a 2-under par 69 today in York. He has a one shot lead at the midway point of the tournament. Miller won the Colonial League and District 11 tournaments this year already. Emmaus' Grant Schumaker is also very much in the hunt, he's 7 shots back at the Triple-A level after day one. All our area golfers will be back on the course for round two tomorrow trying to earn medals.
