EASTON, Pa. -

Children at a Northampton County daycare said good-bye to a friend Friday night.

Wilson Borough Childcare Academy and Learning Center held a memorial service in memory of four year-old Makai Peters who died in a fire in Easton last month.

There was singing and praying and people told stories about Makai.

They also lit candles and wrote messages on balloons and released them into the sky.

"I had one little girl the other day mention to me 'is Sakai', she called him Sakai, she never called him Makai, she called him Sakai, so she goes 'is Sakai doing ok in heaven, is his mommy ok', so I think they do understand," said Jerrisha McCrae of the Wilson Borough Childcare Academy and Learning Center.

The daycare also presented a check to Makai's relatives.

Also killed in the fire were Makai's mother, Joy Lozier, and Joy's cousin James Strickland.
