BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A man is facing charges after threatening his wife with a handgun, officials said.

Martin Silva Sr. retrieved a gun from under a bed in his home at 702 Wyandotte St., Bethlehem, pointed it in his wife Elizabeth's face and said he would kill her at about 2 p.m. Thursday, officials said.

Elizabeth Silva told police her husband became angry with her for no apparent reason and started calling her names before he went for the gun, and that he went to bed after threatening her, officials said.

Martin Silva, 41, was arraigned on charges of assault, reckless endangerment and making terroristic threats and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $5,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. Nov. 2.
