PALMER TWP., Pa. -

A woman shoplifted two bags of shrimp and a bag of sweet peas in her purse, officials said.

Maria L. Zuleta was stopped with the stolen shrimp and peas outside the Giant at 801 S. 25th St., Palmer Twp., Northampton Co., just before 11 a.m. Sunday, officials said.

A store security officer told police Zuleta had only paid for milk before leaving the store through the pharmacy, officials said, adding that the stolen items were worth $65.96.

Zuleta pleaded guilty to shoplifting in New York state in 1987, 1991 and 1994, court records show.

Zuleta, 57, of 931 Ferry St., Easton, was arraigned on a retail theft charge and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $20,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. April 19.
