A woman was beaten, robbed and stabbed in the abdomen moments after she went outside her home to smoke a cigarette, police said.
Police are trying to track down the robber after the incident that happened at around 8:45 p.m. Friday in the area of South Main and West Evergreen streets in Nazareth, Northampton County.
The woman was smoking a cigarette when she was approached by a man who was wearing a hoodie, police said.
The man tried to strike up a conversation with the woman and at one point asked for a beer, police said.
According to police, a struggle ensued and the woman handed the attacker some money.
The man didn't think it was enough money, and he started punching her before stabbing her in the abdomen, officials said.
He fled the scene after she started screaming for help, police said.
The victim's husband and children were in the home during the stabbing, police said.
The woman was taken to the hospital and released.
Officials said it was a random attack.
The attacker is about 5-foot-4 and is about 18 to 20 years old, officials said.
