Man pinned under vehicle in Exeter Twp. after trying to push it

A Reading man is lucky to be alive after he was run over by his own car.
The accident happened around 1:00 p.m., in the 3700 block of Perkiomen Avenue in Exeter Township.
Sergio Caquias, 31, the driver of the car, was rushed to the hospital.
When Caquias' girlfriend spoke with 69 News Friday afternoon, she said she was upset.
She says when Caquias' car first broke down, he tried to flag down traffic, but no one would stop.
"Nobody stopped to help him," said Melinda Candelario. "Not one."
Police say Caquias then tried to push his car out of the way, but the vehicle drifted backwards, knocking Caquias under the car.
Caquías was dragged across a lane of traffic, investigators said, until his car struck several signs, a light pole and a fence in front of Apollo Pools.
"He's just upset because when he ran out of gas, he was flagging people down, and like, come on, I need help, can you help me push my car. Nobody wanted to help," said Melinda Candelario. "But the minute he was underneath the car everybody came out of nowhere like roaches trying to help him."
Caquias works in construction for a living. But for the near future, his girlfriend says he will be focused on rehabilitation.
He suffered injuries to his legs and ankles, and has trouble walking, Candelario said.
She also adds that this accident would have never happened had someone helped her boyfriend when he was initially trying to flag down traffic.
"I know it's Friday, I know it's a rush, but come on, you see somebody needing help, stop and help," Candelario said.
AAA informs that if you are in a similar situation, do not move the car, turn on the blinkers and call a professional towing company.
