Man facing charges after bathroom fight with woman, police say

STOCKERTOWN, Pa. -

A man is facing charges after preventing a woman from leaving his home and causing her to cut her hand during a fight in the bathroom, officials said.

Richard P. Baranowski Jr. was arrested for injuring the woman at about 3 p.m. Sunday during a quarrel in the bathroom of his apartment at 202 Old Easton Road, Stockertown, Northampton Co., officials said.

Baranowski was preventing her from leaving the bathroom, and she cut her hand after breaking a window and a mirror, officials said.

She told police Baranowski shoved her into a table and caused her to injure her head when she had tried to leave the home the day before, officials said.

The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of a bruised right eye, a lump on right side of the back of her head and several cuts on her hand, officials said.

Baranowski was arraigned on charges of domestic violence, assault, reckless endangerment and harassment and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $5,000 bail, according to court dcuments.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Dec. 19.
