A major break in the case of a pizza delivery driver who was shot in the face in Reading.
Police have arrested a 19-year-old man connected to the robbery and shooting that happened on Monday.
"We needed an arrest, we needed one fast and we got that," said Capt. Madison Winchester, Reading Police Department.
Reading Police are calling the arrest of 19-year-old Christian Hernandez groundbreaking. Just days after a Domino's pizza delivery driver was robbed and shot in the face, police said this case has now been broken wide open.
"The case is progressing very rapidly right now that the victim is able to talk to us, and we were able to identify one of the suspects," said Winchester.
According to court documents, on Monday night Hernandez sat on the stairs at 522 Birch Street and placed a $26 order over the phone to Domino's, and lured the delivery driver onto the block.
When the driver pulled up, Hernandez said, "Right here...it's for me," said police.
During an interview with police on Thursday, the 30-year-old victim told detectives another man came from across the street and a gunman came from behind with a black revolver and said, "give me the money."
The victim agreed, but he was still shot in the face.
"They got what they wanted, why did they have to go and shoot, it makes no sense?" asked Steve Krick, who lives in Reading.
According to police, the victim fought back, he tried to defend himself, but Hernandez reached in his pocket and made off with only $15.
Residents on the block call it senseless, but they're glad an arrest has been made.
"I think it's good, it's about time because he was doing his job," said Angela, who lives on Birch Street.
The victim is improving, and has been upgraded to serious condition at the University of Penn Hospital in Philadelphia.
Police are still trying to track down the shooter and the other man involved.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
