Luis Padilla punches son sitting in car, police say

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A man assaulted his son, who was sitting in his car outside a convenience store, officials said.

Luis I. Padilla punched his son, Luis Padilla-Diaz, several times in the face while Padilla-Diaz was sitting in his gray Honda Civic outside the Stefko Shell Mini Mart at 1907 Stefko Blvd., Bethlehem, at about 12:50 a.m. Monday, officials said.

Police found Padilla-Diaz with blood coming out of his mouth, officials said.

No reason was given for the attack in court papers.

Padilla, 48, of 1446 Stefko Blvd., Bethlehem, was arraigned on assault, harassment and disorderly conduct charges and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $2,500 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Feb. 18.
