Lottery Luck: Lehigh Co. Hess sells 2 winning Powerball tix
Lottery players will take all the luck they can get and apparently they're getting a lot of it at one Lehigh County convenience store.
Three winning tickets have been sold there within the past two months.
"I've got the winning Powerball ticket and the winning Mega Millions ticket," said Debbie Tavernier
At odds that can be 175 million to 1, it's wishful thinking but don't tell that to those buying lotto tickets inside this Hess Gas Station.
"I heard this was the spot to get lucky, to get rich. It's why I'm here," customer Don Zimmerman said.
Since February the store, located along Route 309 in North Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, has sold winning tickets for $370,000, $1 million and on Saturday a Powerball ticket worth $2 million.
"I saw it on the news this morning. I figured if I'm going to buy them I'll buy them here," Donald Angstadt said.
The store says it's lucky lotto streak has spiked business.
"Do you think you'll be any luckier with that ticket than if you bought it down the street?" I asked Mike Genovese
"No. I buy at different places it doesn't really matter to me," he stated.
The Pennsylvania Lotto says, statistically speaking, the odds here aren't greater than any other store.
But some customers we spoke with inside have their own opinion.
"People who never purchased started purchasing tickets. So it increases the odds exponentially."
"Numbers come up on a computer, numbers don't lie," Donald Angstadt said after he bought his ticket.
"It's the green roof, " customer Don Zimmerman said.
Whatever the reason for customer Mike Genovese a lotto win means giving back.
The girl who sold me the ticket. I will buy her a new car, he said.
"What about for the reporter who interviewed you?" I asked him.
"I'll give him a raise for a week," Mike responded.
Mike here's to lady luck being on your side, inside the Hess gas station.
