LANSDALE, Pa. -

Animal cruelty charges have been filed against a Montgomery County man who's accused of kicking a cat.

Police said Mieczyslaw Zwolinski of the 800 block of Walnut Street, Lansdale, stomped a cat while neighbors watched on Dec. 4.

The neighbors told police they were talking to Zwolinski, 60, when they heard Zwolinksi's dog barking a few doors down. When they reached his yard, they saw a cat inside the yard.

The neighbor said Zwolinski began to yell expletives and kicked the cat off the ground, police said. The neighbor saw him 'stomp' the cat several times as the animal tried to run away, police said.

The neighbor told Zwolinski to stop to no avail, and Zwolinski kept asking the neighbor if the cat was theirs, police said.

Another nearby neighbor who owned the cat was contacted, and took the cat to the vet for treatment.

The cat was treated for rib pain and a bleeding cut to the mouth, police said.

Charges of animal cruelty have been filed by mail against Zwolinski.
