Lansdale hit-and-run

Lansdale Police Dept.

LANSDALE, Pa. -

Police are seeking the public's help in locating a car involved in a hit-and-run crash in Montgomery County on Monday.

The crash happened at approximately 2:50 p.m. at Main and Broad streets in Lansdale, police said.

The victim, a 53-year-old woman, told police she was stopped for a red light, waiting to turn from North Broad to West Main.

At the same time, police said a small black, "rag top" vehicle occupied by two white men pulled up next to her on her driver’s side.

When the light turned green the black car accelerated in front of her vehicle and began making a right turn, said police, adding that the black car hit the driver’s side, damaging the front fender of the victim's 2003 Chevrolet.

The victim followed the car west on West Main Street and then north into the Madison parking Lot.  Upon reaching North Wood Street, police said the hit-and-run car turned south onto Wood Street, traveling in the wrong direction toward West Main Street, where it turned west once again.

Lansdale police obtained surveillance pictures of the suspect vehicle, which show it to be a late 90s or early 2000 Volkswagen Cabriolet. The rear window area of the convertible top appears to have patch tape on it and silver wheels that appear to be custom.

Anyone with information regarding the vehicle, its location or its owner is asked to contact the Lansdale Police Department at 215-368-1801.
