BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A man pulled a knife on his wife and then threatened her son when she ran for help into his bedroom, officials said.

Kareem Johnakin ripped the bed sheets off his wife, pulled a knife out of a closet, raised it over his head and threatened to kill her in their bedroom in their home in the 2400 block of South Court, Bethlehem, at about 3 a.m. Thursday, officials said.

When the woman ran into her son's bedroom yelling for him to call the police, Johnakin followed and told the boy that he was going to kill him too, officials said.

Johnakin, 41, was arraigned on charges of assault and making terroristic threats and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $35,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. April 25.
