BANGOR, Pa. -

A woman angry with her husband about the state of their relationship cut his ring finger with pruning shears, officials said.

Joan E. Kuppler went after her husband with the Craftsman shears in their home at 603 Center St., Bangor, Northampton Co., grabbed his right wrist and cut his ring finger at about 8:15 p.m. Friday, after the two had been arguing throughout the day, officials said.

Kuppler's husband was taken to the hospital after police found him bleeding profusely from the finger wound, which required stitches, officials said.

Kuppler, 55, was arraigned on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and harassment and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $20,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. April 8.
