BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A man who bought a cell phone from a woman paid for it with counterfeit money he made with a copying machine, police said.

Jandre C. Kellum was caught shortly after he gave three fake $20 bills to Mayra Darlene Collazo-Figueroa at the KNBT Bank branch at 2515 Easton Ave., Bethlehem, at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, said officials, adding that Collazo-Figueroa followed Kellum while calling police after realizing she had been given funny money.

The sale for Collazo-Figueroa's white LG Optima Elite phone  had been arranged through Craigslist, officials said.

Kellum admitted to police he had made photocopies of genuine currency to pay for the phone, officials said.

Kellum, 19, of 101 Freedom Court, Bethlehem, was arraigned early Thursday morning on charges of forgery, theft by deception and receiving stolen property and released on $5,000 unsecured bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. March 29.
