LOWER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. -

Two women in Lehigh County have lost their lives as a result of Hurricane Sandy, bringing the statewide death toll to at least 11.

Tammy Kerosetz died Tuesday at her home at 3663 Schoeneck Rd. in Lower Macungie Township, said the coroner, adding that Kerosetz, 48, was overcome by exhaust fumes from a portable gas generator running inside her garage sometime before 8:30 a.m.

The second victim was Theresa Schlitzer, who was found unresponsive Tuesday morning in the yard of her home at 2425 Route 309 in South Whitehall Township, officials said. Schlitzer, 86, died of hypothermia as a result of prolonged exposure to the extreme weather from the hurricane, the coroner said.

At least two other people in the 69 News viewing area have also died as a result of Hurricane Sandy. One was a Berks County man who was killed by a falling tree outside his home in Pike Township on Tuesday night; the other was a Northampton County teenager who died after his ATV struck a fallen tree in Wind Gap.

The death toll from Superstorm Sandy is now at least 63people along the Atlantic Coast, including at least seven in Pennsylvania.
