Antiques enthusiasts will be happy to hear it's once again time for the annual Heart of the Valley Antiques Show. The fundraiser for public radio station WDIY is happening this weekend in Bethlehem.
"It's a beautiful show," said Carol Alfred of Saylorsburg, one of the vendors. "I've collected over the years and I hunt over at flea markets and go to auction and you know it's just in the blood and I love it."
"Of course it's always the thrill of the hunt and the find and adding that special piece to your collection," she show manager Anne Bedics, who described the excitement of finding a great item.
"When you find it usually your palms are sweaty, you can feel that you're getting a little hot and you're a little shaky because there might be someone standing in front of it as well," she said.
You can browse the displays of more than 20 dealers at this weekend's show.
"You'll find a broad range of antiques here, everything from holiday to children's things to furniture to country furniture to painted pieces," said Bedics.
She said last year's event drew more than 850 people and she hopes the snowy forecast doesn't deter anyone from coming out.
"What we hope, though, is that the people who would normally come to the show, instead decide they're going to the grocery store," said Bedics.
"This is a great show to come to see a lot of really good quality antiques as well as listen to some great music," Bedics added.
The Heart of the Valley Antiques Show is at the Charles Brown Ice House at 56 River Street on Sand Island in Bethlehem.
The hours are Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $7.
