Hackers swipe $665K from school district

Officials in a school system say computer hackers stole more than half a million dollars from the district, but authorities have recovered the money.

DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. -

Officials in a Chester County school system say computer hackers stole more than half a million dollars from the district, but authorities have recovered the money.

Downingtown Area administrators said that they discovered irregularities in a district bank account two days ago.

An investigation by local law enforcement and the FBI revealed that three wire transfers totaling $665,000 had been sent to foreign bank accounts.

Superintendent Lawrence Mussoline says the money has been recovered, but the investigation is ongoing.
