Governor Mifflin, Exeter excited for District openers
The Governor Mifflin football team captured the Berks I title last weekend with a win over Conrad Weiser. But with the celebration over, it's time to start thinking about District playoffs.
The Mustangs earned the five seed in the District 3, quad-A bracket.
Mifflin will host 12-seed South Western in the first round Friday night.
The Mustangs enter the postseason red hot. They've won eight straight games. They last tasted defeat nearly two months ago to Lancaster Catholic.
But Mifflin is not letting all that success get to their heads. In fact, they're staying hungry knowing this could be their final home game of the season.
The other quad-A team out of Berks I to make the district playoffs was Exeter.
Very quietly, the Eagles put together a fine season.
Exeter won 7 games overall, including five straight to end the season.
The Eagles earned the 11-seed and will have to go on the road to take on 6-seed Cumberland Valley Friday night.
Exeter feels a bit more seasoned heading into this year's postseason run. They'll look to make a little more noise in the quad-A field than they did last year.
