Golf lessons teach, inspire local amputees

MAXATAWNY TWP., Pa. -

Golf fans and newcomers to the game are overcoming odds and brushing up on their skills.

Amputees learned the basics of the game at the Eastern Amputee Golf Association's second annual golf clinic at Sittler Golf in Maxatawny Township.

The trainer, Bob Buck, said he's been playing golf for 60 years, 44 of those as an amputee.

"You shouldn't let the fact that you're an amputee or have another disability, golf is a game you can definitely play," said Buck. "Hey, it gets you outside. [It's] a little chilly out today, but it's great to be out when the sun's out.

Players got tips and the chance to see what kind of adaptive golf equipment is available.
