Girl Scouts honor three LV women

A trio of women are being honored Wednesday night by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania.

BREINIGSVILLE, Pa. -

A trio of women are being honored Wednesday night by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania.

The annual Girl Scouts' Take the Lead honorees event took place this evening in Breiningsville.

Girl Scout officials nominated a number of area women who they felt embodied true leadership. Those honored Wednesday night included Lehigh Valley Capital Blue Cross Vice President Anne Baum, Community Services for Children President Jane Ervin and Blankstone Farm Owner Kit Hower.

Officials say it's important for girls to have the chance to interact with woman of such high professional caliber.

"It's important because our girls need role models and these women really demonstrate courage, confidence and character. They are strong role models in our community and its also great for girls to get out and be leaders themselves," said Natalye Paquin, CEO of Girl Scouts of Eastern PA.

Local girl scouts actually ran a large porition of the night's activities -- doing everything from passing out programs to emceeing the event.
