Family and friends of the Reading woman whose body was savagely dumped and set on fire are coming together hoping to raise money to pay for her funeral.

Family and friends of the Reading woman whose body was savagely dumped and set on fire are coming together hoping to raise money to pay for her funeral.

They held a special fundraiser for the family of Jennifer Velez-Negron, 26, at the Stork Hotel on Eighth and Bingaman streets.

Her body was found in a wooded area in Salisbury Township, Lehigh County just two days after Christmas.

The Lehigh County coroner identified her body Thursday.

He has ruled her death a homicide and no arrests have been made.

Members of Velez-Negron's family say they do not have enough money to give her a proper burial and organizers want to raise $6,000 by Monday.

"The family doesn't have the funds so once again it's in my heart to put this together," said organizier Eddie Martinez.

The fundraiser will continue at the Stork Hotel Saturday night.
