Fleetwood clinches Berks II; Brandywine Heights gets win on special night
The high school soccer regular season has come to and end, but one division was still up for grabs Wednesday night. The Fleetwood girls had a chance to wrap up Berks II. They had to beat Twin Valley at home.
Fleetwood got two first half goals and looked like they were well on their way to clinching the division.
But Twin Valley made it a 2-1 game late in the second half when Gabby Kurtz made a powerful move inside the box and cut the lead in half.
But five minutes later, Hanna Perone sent a corner kick into the Raiders box and Hannah Stump finished it with a blast off the volley.
Fleetwood (9-1) went on to win 3-1 to clinch the Berks II title, finishing with a higher ranking than Conrad Weiser (9-1).
The Brandywine Heights team hosted Breast Cancer Awareness Night Wednesday evening. The event raised money for charity and centered around Brandywine's game against Oley Valley.
Oley's Kailee Kramer put a damper on the home team early with a goal.
But the Bullets answered back shortly after on a goal from Jess Hallowell.
Kramer put the Lynx back on top, streaking around the goalie and putting the Oley up 2-1.
Late in the first half, Brandywine's Nyssa Hughes leveled the score once again, this time using her knee to loft the ball over the keeper and into the net.
The Bullets then took over in the second half. Hallowell notched the go-ahead goal and Hughes added another for insurance.
The Bullets finished the season 7-2-1 in Berks III, good enough for a second-place finish behind 9-0 Tulpehocken.
