First 6 months a success for Bucks County Playhouse

Since getting its second act this summer, the Bucks County Playhouse has made big plans to open a riverfront promenade and deck bar, but it has had plenty of drama just trying to make it a reality.
Half a year ago, the curtain went up again at the Bucks County Playhouse and so far it's been a success.
"By the end of the year we'll probably have brought through almost 20,000 people through the playhouse," smiled Tanya Cooper with The Bridge Street Foundation.
With $8 million invested to open and operate, the historic theater's non profit backer, The Bridge Street Foundation, says one thing is vital to make it financially sustainable.
"The larger plan has always been an expanded concessions operation with a bar and deck on the back," explained Cooper.
Two months ago the foundation decided to withdraw its application to the New Hope Zoning Hearing Board so issues could be worked out, and the group can move forward with construction plans.
"We would just like to make sure that when we go before the board that we're assured of a fair and impartial decision," added Cooper.
The foundation came before the New Hope Borough Council Tuesday night to ask for help. They want council to aid them in figuring out how they can get the riverfront promenade and deck bar plans approved.
"We are really looking forward to continuing to expand our operations and make sure this playhouse lives on without being solely economically reliant on one benefactor."
Council agreed to meet with The Bridge Street Foundation to try to work out the issues.
