Federal charges filed against man accused of producing child porn

READING, Pa. -

A man arrested during a Berks County child pornography sweep is now being prosecuted by the feds. During that child porn sweep back in December 10 men were arrested.

Thursday, Danny Evans of Reading was indicted by the US Attorney's office.

26 year-old Danny Evans is facing two counts of production of child pornography. According to court documents, Evans persuaded two minors under 18 years old to engage in sexually explicit conduct to produce a visual depiction of it. In other words, the indictment is charging Evans didn't just look at child pornography he created it.

"The time, type, time of incarceration that some of these defendants could be facing for child pornography charges are much more stringent in the federal system," said Berks County District Attorney John Adams.

Authorities said if Evans is convicted he could spend 60 years in prison. He would also face a $500,000 fine and a lifetime of supervised release. Adams explained that the child porn sweep his office conducted in December resulted in this federal indictment and two others.

"Of those 10 defendants three have been indicted federally the other seven are being prosecuted here in the Court of Common Pleas of Berks County," said Adams.

Adams said those other 7 cases of child pornography are still pending. He believes this is the final federal indictment to be handed down by the US Attorney's Office from this sweep. Adams said his office is still receiving information related to those prior arrests.

"We want to do everything possible to stop this and to make certain that children are not victimized," said Adams.
