Fatal accident closes Route 100 in Berks County

One man was killed and another was injured in a fiery crash in Berks County early Tuesday morning.

WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. -

One man was killed and another was injured in a fiery crash in Berks County early Tuesday morning.

The accident happened around 6 a.m. on Route 100, near Ehst Street, in Washington Township when a southbound car crossed the center line and hit an oncoming pickup truck.

The collision caused the car to burst into flames. The driver, Devon Rosenberger, 26, of Gilbertsville, Montgomery Co., died at the scene, state police said.

The driver of the pickup truck, Keith Baker, 40, of Pottstown, suffered only minor injuries, state police said. He was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital near Allentown for treatment.

State police ask anyone with information about the accident to contact their Reading barracks at 610-378-4011.

Route 100 was closed between Mill Street and Limekiln Road while state police investigated the accident and crews removed the wreckage.
