BUSHKILL TWP., Pa. -

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded a Northampton County fire department with tens of thousands of dollars.

Senator Bob Casey announced the the $54,625 grant for the Bushkill Township Volunteer Fire Company Thursday.

Casey says the money is for safety and operations.

“Pennsylvania’s firefighters endure risk and sacrifice every day to keep their community safe,” said Senator Casey. “This money will help provide Northampton County’s firefighters with the resources they need to ensure their safety and the safety of those they serve.”

The funds are awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program (AFG), which aims to strengthen the health and safety of the nation’s first responders and those they serve.
