Emmaus McDonalds raises hundreds of dollars for fire victim

EMMAUS, Pa. -

The McDonald's in Emmaus, held a fund raiser Tuesday to help out one of their own who barely escaped a deadly fire over a week ago.

The blaze on South Fifth Street on March 17th killed four people, including the girlfriend of 63-year-old Bobby Taylor.

"She kept me out of trouble, she kept my life worth living," said Taylor of his girlfriend of 37 years, Lena Marie Adamo also known as Maria.

Currently, Taylor is staying with friends and has recently gone back to work. To help their friend out, coworkers decided to hold a fundraiser of sorts.

For four hours on Tuesday, 20 percent of all sales went to Taylor.

"Bobby has a lot of supporters, he's got a lot of people out there that are pulling for him and want to help out," said restaurant manager Jackie Grube.

Neighbor Michael Aldinger, who helped rescue fire victims including Taylor, says coming to a fundraiser is the least he can do.

"He's a good guy..glad to see that he's here, awesome guy," said Aldinger.

"It makes me feel wonderful, it makes me feel that I got a family that I can count on," said Taylor.

The total raised during Tuesday's fund raiser was $520.
