Easton Police are on the lookout for more copper thieves in College Hill

Some thieves are mining for metal on College Hill in Easton.
Copper thefts are costing some homeowners thousands of dollars.
John Vanarman's downspouts are broken and missing.
"It's like 'oh my God they did this again'," said Vanarman. "After a while you start to take it personal."
It's the fourth time copper thieves have stolen the downspouts from Vanarman's College Hill home -- a crime that has cost him and other homeowners in the area a lot of money.
"It's close to $2,000," said Vanarman. "It's more than $1,000 just for the material."
"Over the last two weeks we've made arrests that are directly related to copper thefts," said Captain Scott Casterline, from the Easton Police Department. "We still have approximately 20 open copper theft cases."
According to police reports, the three men under arrest all are from New Jersey.
Investigators say they are checking to see if they may be linked to the other open cases.
John Vanarman's case is one of those open files.
He's hoping police will be able to put the people who did this to his home behind bars as well.
"I'm pretty proud of the Easton Police Department," added Vanarman. "They've stayed with it. Even with the times that they cannot prosecute because nobody saw them stealing it and they can claim 'oh I just found it by the side of the road,' they don't give up."
Homeowners say they are trying to help police by increasing neighborhood watch programs.
Actually an alert neighbor helped with one arrest.
Police say they are also working with local scrap metal yards to help track people selling stolen copper.
