Nearly 50 people were cited during a crackdown on aggressive driving in Spring Township on Wednesday.

SPRING TWP., Pa. -

Nearly 50 people were cited during a crackdown on aggressive driving in Spring Township on Wednesday.

State police and Spring Township police said they cited 47 drivers and issued eight warnings in the area of Routes 222 and 724.

Authorities were in the area for three hours.

"This roadway has been selected by PennDOT because it shows a high frequency of aggressive driving related crashes, and speeding is the principal component of aggressive driving," said Joe O'Donnell, traffic safety coordinator.

Authorities said one driver was traveling 87 miles per hour. The speed limit on the highway is 55.
