An overnight fire destroyed this home on Golden Slipper Road in Bartonsville.

POCONO TOWNSHIP, Pa. -

Two dogs were killed after being trapped inside a burning home in Monroe County, officials said.

The fire broke out at 12:12 a.m. Saturday at Golden Slipper Road and Pocono Circle in Pocono Township, Monroe Co.

The fire destroyed the house. Nobody else was inside the home at the time.

Fire departments from Pocono Township and neighboring communities needed about two hours to extinguish the fire in the Barton Glen development, Sgt. Shawn Goucher said.

The cause of the fire, which is currently under investigation, does not appear to be suspicious, according to Goucher.

Goucher said a new resident was in the process of moving into the home.
